Moving... leaving...

I've been so into my work recently that I've basically had a writer's block. I don't know what to write anymore. There were a number of times, I've opened up this page and started my rant... only to delete all of it minutes later. Somehow I don't think I wanna rant too much about my work here. Doing it, ranting about work, seems so natural and the writing seems to just ... happens. I have to wake myself up and realise I really should not doing it so often.

I'm probably going to travel to Johor Bharu for work again come next week. The trip down for meeting with one of the state backed companies would, hopefully, bring some good results - workwise. I should be able to keep our regional KPI for sites acquired for quite a few month... and plus the number will look good in management presentations . Another agenda on the trip down is to meet up with another of the state-backed port management personnel. This is to do some sort of sweet talk to him to allow us to extend of the telco structure's compound there. It's shady business and the part of my work I've been dreading to do all this time. *sigh*...

I need to move out of my uncle's house in Kepong soon. Uncle is selling the house and by the end of the month, the contractors are coming in to re-do the house up. By then, he would travelling to China to attend his brother's daughter's marriage. After then I think he's going up to New York to visit his children (who have migrated there for years!). Meet up with another uncle yesterday and he gave me the okay to move to his place instead... a more posh place called Sri Hartamas. The downer is that I would probably need to drive to work everyday, since there isn't any public transportation around his place. *sigh* That's RM5 for parking daily and about RM50 for fuel every 4 days (my estimation for my Proton Wira consumption. The good thing, is the place is near my gym, so easy access... basically it's just at the back of my house :D .

I'll probably move out by next week. No air-conditioned in the new place but I don't mind. It will need some getting-used to but I've never really like having air-condition. It's just too blardy cold with the thing on.

Talking about moving, my department here is moving again. I was sitting in the Corporate management office on the day I first joined the company. They then moved me to a meeting room with the Site Acquisition Affairs section for awhile before settling down in the SAQ room, facing a wall and accompanied by a fire hydrant. Now, I'm told to move with the whole department 7 storeys down to 4th floor.

I really shouldn't complain. I just came back from "scouting" out the new place... it's not bad. My boss placed me near the window, overlooking the scenery back of Times Square. I'll post a picture later. My worries here is just the glare in the afternoon/evening sun. There don't seem to be any curtains nor indications of curtains to be installed at later stages. The place would turn out to be quite hot later with the full force of the sun shining in.

Weekend relaxation

Last weekend was a relaxing one.

Hung out with Jodie on Saturday, watching The Dark Knight in Pavilion. Pavilion's this spanking new shopping mall near where I work and I've never actually tried out the cinema there yet. I've always been in this mall lately when I joined up the gym and have always noticed the cinema jammed pack with people... even during weekdays. The experience was great, I must admit for this new cinema. With GSC cinemas, the leg room was very good, I could even cross my long legs even if I wanted too. The sit was very comfortable as the back could back a little when you look up at the screen. I went to buy the tix early in the week so I had to comfort of choosing where we could sit and last room, middle sits were the best (ain't it).

The movie itself was good too, albeit us entering it abit late - Joker was already saying the line "No, I'm suppose to kill the bus driver". Even missing out much of the beginning, it definitely did not stop me from enjoying the movie. I would recommend anyone to go watch this movie, if they haven't yet. I know I'm going to get me the DVD when it's out on the pirate market... as with Iron Man, just to watch it again. The movie seems to have kept me at the edge of my seat most of the times and not much of the mushy-mushy stuff even though when they were talking about the love triangle scenes. The movie is certainly taking a darker tone this time around as compared to the first Christian Bale Batman movie and this move seems to be working out well with a number of collegues and friends saying this movie was worth-watching in the big screen.

Sunday's lunch with David was good too. It's been awhile since I last saw this ex-housemate of mine. He is very tied up with his work and have been travelling extensively for quite some time. When he picked me up, I noticed his beloved Civic was quite dirty. Just goes to show how much work he's been drowning in that he didn't even wash his beloved baby car. Hahaha... He showed me the newest girl that he was going out with. Wow, hot! Somehow he managed to bag a model and having some confidence issue of going out with her. Well, it's perfectly understandable if not for his philosofy last time - May the best man win. Somehow him coming up to me and saying he is having confidence issue going out with such a hot girl is somewhat unexpected. Anyway our lunch talk was good and dragged on for about 4 hours. Hahaha... I've always enjoyed talking to him. Seeing how senior he is, he does provide alot of good advise on career and how to approach work. I've utilised his advise on a number of occasions and it seems to work well.

Work rant.

I just deleted a few paragraph that I rant about incompetent people in my current workplace. I've dealt with these type of people before and I don't like it. This type of people always have 1 similarity, which is blame everyone else but themselves for the problem. For them, it's not about how to resolve the issue or solve the problem, it's "Who to blame?". Crap. The other thing about dealing with this people is how much work they DON'T want to do. Everything is pushed to someone else. They never seem to take responsibility for anything.

I don't know why it's affecting me more this time. Perhaps I'm seeing more and more of them here. There weren't so much of this people back in AMD then. Sure the oldies, waiting for retirements were a bore and I must admit some of them were like this then. The people here are still quite young, most of them being in their 30's and 40's. You gotta be wondering how they go through all those years of working without picking up some skills and valuable lessons. I really wonder how the heck they can justify their "manager" post. I feel I do my work even better than they do most of the times.

Enough, back to work.

New shoes!

Finally, a pair of brand new jogging shoes! Adidas Uraha 2

I think the model is about 1 year old now seeing how my searches on Google always goes to dates no earlier than Aug 2007. The shoe is pretty light and I managed to get it at RM140 only in Malacca, on my way back from Johore last week. Other than it being a good fit and comfortable to wear all around, those holes you see on the shoe isn't just a design thing, it allows air to go into the shoe. This gave the shoes an "air-y" feeling and my feet ain't as hot as usual after a run.

I had my eyes on Asics actually, as I've written down earlier but the model limitation here in M'sia and the high prices of the new model (as seen in Singapore) prompted me to look for alternatives. I was looking to get Nike's latest lightweight models (lookie here for how it looks like) but then I saw this model when I was in Johor. The shop didn't have my size then but I somehow manage to get it when I was in Malacca. Ah, joys of travel! Hehehe... Anyway the new Asics I was looking for, the Gel-Nimbus 10, is about RM669 here in M'sia and about RM429 in Singapore with the Megasales they're having there a few weeks ago. That is definitely out of my budget... I know I did mention willing to spend a little more for a pair of good jogging shoes but this pricing is wayyyyy out of what I thinking about.

So far, 2 weeks of using it - I'm pretty satisfied with the level of comfort and support to my legs/feet. The lightweightness and the airy feeling is great! I'm glad I manage to find a good pair of shoes with such cheapo price somehow and not having to spend the hundreds that I was thinking that I need.

Now I need a new pair of futsal shoes

Having spent most of my time away from office past few days, I came back to a bunch of workload to settle today. I could have opened up my Outlook during my away time, but the crappy Internet connection in the hotel and Starbucks just de-motivated me. As a result I now have a few shitty mess to clear up with a bunch of people in the office.

Work aside, the time away from the office has been great. I do not have to put up with the politics that I'm usually exposed to and had a good time. Even when doing my job outside. Of course, the trip was meant for me to get used to the Johor Bahru landscape so it's sorta like a sight seeing trip anyway. I took in alot of the sights and went to most of the major malls in JB, even the new Jusco in Tebrau City. Hehehe... pretty much relaxing. Ah forgot to mention that since it's a business trip, my fuel expenses can be claimed! Oh, that's a good point with the price hike .

I went over to Singapore over the weekends, with the hope I can grab some stuff during the MegaSales that is on there. On the agenda was looking for a good Asics shoe to buy, of course. With this in mind, I headed to a place called Queenstown. I've been told that this is THE place to get cheap shoes and they were right! Most of the shoes were on 20-40% discount for Asics. Even the new Nimbus 10 model from Asics was on 40%. Wah... that made the price of the shoe about S$182... which translate to RM429. Crap. .... So end of the trip, I didn't buy anything. Most of the Asics I wanted was really priced out of my budget of around RM350. Adidas and Nike ones can be bought in M'sia so I didn't really go over them much. Other items of interested spotted was my-much-wanted Mercurial Vapor 3 boots and futsal shoes. They were a steal at about 70% off but sadly for the dealer and me, they didn't have my size! Ah...

My cousins and I went to Vivocity as well. They had originally wanted to take me to Sentosa but I ain't having any of that. I didn't come to sight see here! I wanna buy stuff. ... Kinda hypocritical since I also didn't buy anything from Vivocity. Hah! The mall is big and there were a few times I got myself lost in it. I gotta come to this mall again when I with friends. I like the eateries beside the river (?) and the balcony overlooking Sentosa Island. Looks like a place where we can just chill and talk the whole day.

I'm planning to go again some time in the future. Yeah, not so often since the exchange is killing me. As soon as someone is free to accompany me around next time, I'll probably make plans to go again. It is boring travelling alone, you know.

Oh my god!

Look how much AMD has fallen?!! The price was still USD$6 something last week, I think. Look at it now! It's USD$4.88 (at time of writing la!) now!

Crap.

The company is obviously not doing well. I don't know why they are in this type of position. Their product is good. The latest news of Dreamworks dropping AMD for Intel is another no-brainer. In the comments by the Dreamworks guy, he mentioned that Intel's roadmap is better suited with their future works. Hmm... ok I've never seen Intel's roadmap but I've definitely seen AMD's. I was thinking that AMD's roadmap would suit them quite well with the integrated CPU/GPU system in the works now and multi-core processors planned as well. Ooo well... maybe they changed it. Bad move, smartass.

Could be the reason why they are not doing so well in the stock markets then. I do wonder why as well so many execs were leaving then as well.

*Sigh*

I wonder how much lower can it get. Aih...
